Who we are
KOLCaster is a live audio and podcast app. You can create an account, join or host live rooms, upload or record podcasts, send gifts with coins, subscribe to Premium, and contact support.
This policy explains what we collect when you use the KOLCaster app and website (kolcaster.com), why we collect it, and how you can control it.
Account information you give us
When you register with email, we collect your name, username, email address, and password. Passwords are stored hashed, not in plain text. You may also add a profile photo and a short bio.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account ID, email, and name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple account ID and, when Apple provides it, your email and name. We do not keep the Google or Apple sign-in token after we verify it.
We do not ask for your phone number, date of birth, gender, or home address to create an account.
Profile and app settings
You can update your name, username, email, bio, profile photo, and password in Settings → Account Settings.
We also store two preferences on your account: whether in-app notifications are enabled, and your audio quality setting. Dark mode and onboarding status stay on your device only.
Live rooms
When you host a room we store the title, description, category, cover image, schedule time, and whether the room is public. We also store who is in the room and their role (host, speaker, or listener), plus mute state.
Live voice is streamed through Agora so others in the room can hear you. We generate a short-lived Agora token for the room. We do not keep a copy of the live conversation unless the host later saves a recording as a podcast.
While a room is live, chat messages, speaker requests, gifts, display names, and profile photos for people in that room are held in Firebase Realtime Database so the room can update in real time.
Podcasts
When you upload or record a podcast, we store the audio file, cover image, title, description, category, original file names, duration, and play count. If you save a live room as a podcast, that recording is stored the same way.
Public podcasts are visible to other users. You can keep a podcast private. Play counts are stored on our servers so we can show how often an episode is listened to.
Wallet, gifts, and Premium
KOLCaster uses coins (stars) you can buy and send as gifts in live rooms. We store your coin balance, coins you have earned as a host, gift history (who sent what, in which room, and how many coins), purchase records, and withdrawable earnings balances.
When gifts are sent, we may apply a platform fee to the creator’s earnings share before crediting their withdrawable balance. That fee rate is configured by us and may change.
Coin purchases and Premium subscriptions are processed by Stripe and/or Paystack. Those providers receive your email and the payment amount. We store checkout references, payment status, currency, and (for Premium) your subscription ID and expiry date. Card or mobile-money checkout details are handled by Stripe or Paystack — we do not store full card numbers.
If you withdraw host earnings, you may connect Stripe Connect (for bank details), save Mobile Money details (number, network, account name), or save a PayPal email. We store payout requests, amounts, status, payment-received dates, optional payment notes, and receipt files admins attach as evidence of payment.
Support
If you contact us in the app (Settings → Contact Support) or on the website, we store your name, email, subject, message, category, and any reply from our team. You can also email support@kolcaster.com.
Data on your device
The app keeps a login token, a cached copy of your profile, remembered email if you choose “remember me”, recent podcast searches, theme, and (if you download episodes) those files and a download list on the device.
If you leave a live room running in the background, the app may store enough room information locally to let you return to it.
Permissions
Microphone — used for live rooms and recording podcasts. We only use it while you are speaking or recording.
Photos / files — used when you pick a profile photo, room image, podcast cover, or audio file.
Camera — may be used if you take a profile or cover photo with the camera.
Notifications — used on Android to keep a live room running in the foreground. We do not collect push-notification device tokens.
KOLCaster does not use location.
Information we receive automatically
When the app or website talks to our servers, we may receive standard connection data such as IP address, time, and browser or app user agent. This is used to run the service, keep you signed in, and protect accounts.
We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not use analytics products such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or similar trackers in the app.
How we use this information
We use it to create and secure your account, show your profile, run live rooms and podcasts, process coins, gifts, Premium, and payouts, enforce live-time limits on free accounts, reply to support, send sign-up or password-reset emails, and comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share only what is needed to operate KOLCaster:
• Google or Apple — to verify Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple.
• Agora — live voice in rooms (channel and a numeric user id).
• Firebase (Google) — live room chat, presence, speaker requests, and gifts during a session.
• Stripe — coin checkout, Premium, and host Connect payouts.
• Paystack — coin checkout and Mobile Money payouts where enabled.
• Our email provider — verification codes, password resets, and support replies.
Other users can see information you make public: your name, username, photo, bio, public rooms, public podcasts, and messages or gifts you send in a live room.
How long we keep it
We keep account and content data while your account is open. Live room chat in Firebase is tied to the live session. Podcast files stay until you delete the episode or we remove it. Purchase, gift, and payout records are kept as needed for accounting, refunds, and fraud prevention.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings → Account Settings → Delete account. That takes effect immediately. If you no longer have the app, request deletion at https://kolcaster.com/account-deletion. Web requests are completed within 30 days.
When an account is deleted we end live rooms you are hosting, remove your profile photo, unlink Google and Apple sign-in, clear your bio and Mobile Money payout details, and replace your name, username, and email so you can no longer sign in.
Podcasts you already published may remain, shown as “Deleted User”. Coin purchases, gift history, payout records, Premium/Stripe identifiers, and support tickets may be kept where we need them for tax, accounting, or fraud prevention.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, change notification and audio settings, sign out, download or remove offline episodes on your device, make podcasts private, and delete your account.
Privacy questions: privacy@kolcaster.com. Support: support@kolcaster.com.
Children
KOLCaster is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email privacy@kolcaster.com and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of KOLCaster after an update means you accept the revised policy.
